A Selection of Sporting Events For The Second Half Of Summer
The 32nd Summer Olympics begin this week. Due to the pandemic, it will not be the global spectator draw that it usually is, but an exclusive event for Japanese locals with very controlled and limited access. So, in light of these circumstances, we draw your attention to a selection of other sporting events around the world worth visiting in the second half of summer.
English Premiere League 2021-22 Season Open
August 13th – 15th, 2021

There are few leagues and venues that provide as many great fan experiences as the English Premiere League does! There are multiple legendary stadiums to take in the opening weekend of the new season, including Manchester United’s Old Trafford, Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge, Everton’s Goodison Park, Leicester’s King Power Stadium, and Tottenham’s new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where you can take in the history and traditions of these great clubs.

Circuit de la Sarthe, Le Mans, France
24 Hours of Le Mans is the world’s oldest sports car endurance race. It’s also a great excuse to take in this historic French city that sits along the River Sarthe. If you are an auto sports enthusiast, you will see Ferraris, Alpines and every other marquee sports car perform against each other in this all-nighter event. Tickets for this year’s event start at 29 € with general admission.

Hayward Field, Eugene, Oregon
For those that were really hoping to make it to Tokyo for their elite track & field fix, the Prefontaine Classic should more than qualify as a consolation prize attracting the best athletes in the world. Eugene, Oregon isn’t a bad place to visit either, with good beer and the great outdoors. Hayward Field has built completely new grandstands that seat 12,500 with comfortable seating and front rows just beyond reach of the outside lane.

Daytona International Speedway is one of the most iconic stadium venues in the world. The 2.5-mile venue has also recently announced its opening of the frontstretch, camping sites and hospitality areas for the Coke Zero Sugar 400. In addition to the always exciting race, there will be a fireworks celebration for the regular season finale.

Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Flushing, New York
The US Open in New York is akin to a ceremonial close of summer in the City. Flushing Meadows, in Queens, is the center of it all over the two-week event. On top of the tennis stadiums here, the Mets baseball stadium, Citi Field and remnants from the World’s Fair are worth visiting nearby.
